Every January the council sponsors a basketball free throw contest for all boys and girls, ages 9 through 14. Winners in each age group have the opportunity to go on to the district contest held in February.

The council again this year assisted the Youth Group in sponsoring the event. Knights provided guidance to the groups members in mixing and cooking the pancakes.

Periodically, members of the council travel to one of the Gleaners Food Banks to help prepare boxes of food for the needy.

Annually, the council holds a pasta dinner at STAB that honors the organizations which received the profits from the MI Tootsie Roll drives.

The council contributed $300 towards ultrasound equipment for the Lennon Pregnancy Center in Dearborn Heights. This unit, presented in a ceremony on June 19, is considered an irreplaceable tool that allows women to see a real-time image of the child inside her womb.

The council holds Corporate Communions at least 4 times a year at St. Thomas a'Becket. This one was followed by the initiation of Catholic men into the Knights.

The council holds pancake breakfasts at least 4 times a year in the Family Life Center at St. Thomas a'Becket to benefit various charitable organizations.

MI "Tootsie Roll" Drives Click Here to see photos.
Twice a year, on Palm Sunday weekend and around Columbus Day in October, the Council members can be found in front of stores and by the parking lot at STAB after Mass giving out Tootsie Rolls and asking for donations for the mentally handicapped. 100% of the proceeds from this campaign goes to one or more organizations for the handicapped in the Michigan area.

An annual council sponsored event, held each February, is the Daddy/Daughter Dance, where daddies (and sometimes granddaddies) bring their daughters of all ages to dance to the music, share cookies and punch, and have their photos taken..
