Msgr. Kern Council Annual Golf Outing
July 27, 2024 at Fellows Creek Golf Club in Canton!
Our 21st annual charity golf event!!!
Msgr. Kern Council holds an annual golf outing every year, usually in late summertime. This is an enjoyable council event for members and friends & family to have a "fun" day out on the links. It's not a competitive event where only the really good golfers win. It's intended for "every skill level" of golfers to just get out and have some fun together. It's also a charitable fund raiser for us in that proceeds of our golf outing go to support the good works of charities in the local Canton area. Please consider joining us next year. Put a foursome together or just sign up as a single. We would love to have you join in on the fun time too! The 2024 outing is scheduled for Saturday, July 27th, 9:00 am shot gun start at Fellows Creek Golf Club in Canton. More information will follow as we get closer to the date, but if you have questions or wish to donate door prizes now, contact our Grand Knight at [email protected] or event chairmen Rick St. Peter or Jamie Bernacik (click Rick's or Jamie's name here to send him an email). ps: This year will be our 21st year of golfing for charity! Mark your calendars now and plan to join us at Fellows Creek in Canton for a special 20th anniversary golf outing spectacular!!!

Monday - August 27, 2018 - 2018 K of C Annual Golf Outing Wrap Up
Our 15th annual charity golf outing on August 18th at Fellows Creek Golf Club in Canton was another big success with lots of golfing fun for all participants! This year we set another record in terms of number of golfers and money raised for our parish St. Vincent DePaul organization! Congrats to our winning team this year, Team Yancey - Bob Yancey, Bob Cieslak, Fr. Terry Treppa and George Peters. Their score of 21 under par was a new record low score for our outing as well. They played very well, but you gotta love those “strings” and “mulligans” we sell for charity also!
Winning our Straightest Drive competition was Shane Aigner. Fr. Terry Treppa won one of our Closet to the Pin competitions. David Trost won the other. Jeff Campau was the big money winner in our 50/50 drawing and he donated his winnings back to further add to our donation to St. Vincent DePaul. Thanks for your generosity, Jeff! Every golfer took home a door prize. Unfortunately, nobody won the $5000 Hole-in-One contest or the other three "bonus" Hole-in-One contests we had. Maybe one of our golfers will be luckier next year!!
I would like to specifically thank all those very generous people or businesses who donated awards and door prizes: Fellows Creek Golf Club, Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center (home of the Golden Fox and Fox Classic golf courses), Brea Burn Golf Course, Jim & Livvie Lutfy and The Fine Wine Source Inc., Bob Yancey and ServiceChex, Inc., Edward C Levy Co., Bright View Landscaping, Mickey's Golf Range, Canton Family Chiropractic (Larry Morabito), Broad Family Chiropractic, Rob Bovitz and Bovitz CPA, Mike & Sue Neiheisel, Mike Goodhart, David Trost, Ed & Mary Ann Harkins, Dave Denhard, Rick St. Peter, Jim Roach, John Spencer, Jerry Kerpet, George Peters, Robert Craighead, Ed Patrick, Mike Mackley, Jim Allen, Vince Ventura and Duke Hynek. Without their generosity our outing would not have been the success it was! Finally, thanks again to all our golfers who participated this year and in doing so supported our SVDP folks! Hope to see you all back next August when we will tee it up again for charity!

Sunday - August 19, 2018 - We added a few more players on "game day" yesterday ending up with 93 golfers for our 2018 charity golf outing. That's a new record for our council! Congrats to our winning team this year with and incredible score of -21! That’s the lowest score in the 15 year history of our golf outing! Gotta love those purchased strings and mulligans! Congratulations to (left to right), Fr. Terry Treppa, George Peters, Bob Cieslak and Bob Yancey! More info and pictures will follow shortly!
Thursday - August 16, 2018 - Our pairing for this year's golf outing are now pretty much set! Below is how things shake out. We have 22 foursomes and 1 threesome, for a total of 91 players. See you all Saturday and "thank you" for playing with us this year!
Monday - August 13, 2018 - We still have room for one more "single" golfer to fill out a foursome. So it's not too late to be that person (male or female)! Get back to Ed Harkins by Wednesday or Thursday (latest) to join in on the fun! (Click on Ed's name here to open your email program for a message to him!)
Monday - August 13, 2018 - A message to all golf outing players....
This is just a reminder...our golf outing is a this Saturday at Fellows Creek in Canton. Shot gun start is at 1:30PM sharp and they will ask us to be in our carts by 1:15 or so. Show up at least 45 to 60 minutes before if possible. Check in at the registration table located under the canopy near the parking lot. The registration table will be open about 11:00 AM.
This year lunch will be provided before we go out on the course starting at approximately 12:30 in the patio area behind the registration table. As usual, we will do a nice buffet dinner after golf in the clubhouse. During dinner we will award prizes for winning team, straightest drive, and closest to the pin's and do the 50/50 drawing. We will also have a door prize drawing and every participant will win something. Some of these door prizes are very nice! So be sure to stick around after golf!
This is a "for fun" outing and to increase our fun, we will be selling 50/50 drawing tickets (one ticket $1, six tickets $5, "arm's length" $10)...Mulligans for $3 each (turn that "whoops" into a do-over)...and Strings ($2 each for a 1 foot length, to help you make that putt good!). So bring a few extra bucks to join in all the extra fun!
Those sales will be at the registration table too before golf starts.
Attached is our rules sheet for the outing. There will be a copy on your cart too so no need to print. But, please review it so you know what's what! Also attached is our "near final" pairings. "Near final" because there's a chance I may have a few additions by our tee time. I'm still looking for one more couple, a single or possibly 2, and any more foursomes that want to be included.
We will again be doing a $5000 Hole-in-One contest like we have the last few years! In addition, there are three other Hole-in-one "bonus" contests with some nice prizes too. Note: No tee-shot Mulligans are allowed on the $5000 hole. Mulligans are allowed on the "bonus" holes, but only your first tee shot counts to win the prize or for closest to the pin.
This is a charity event. All profits from this outing will go to support St. Vincent DePaul Society and all the good work they do. So we are having fun and being charitable at the same time. Can't beat that! For more info about our St. Vincent DePaul folks, click on the following link: http://abecket.org/st-vincent-de-paul
**** I don't have everyone's email, so please share this email/information with the rest of your foursome if you see they aren't listed. ****
One last thing... If you haven't paid yet, you can try to get me your payment before the outing. If you can't do that, just bring it with you to the outing. Make any checks payable to K of C #8284. The attached players list reflects payments to date I'm aware of.
See you all on Saturday the 18th at Fellows Creek!

Wednesday - August 1, 2018 - We already have 92 players signed up for this years outing! That's fantastic! We still have room to add additional foursomes, threesomes, twosomes and single golfers, though. In fact, we'd love to have some more singles sign up. You'll be placed in a foursome and be assured of a good time! We'll be taking sign up's for another 10 days or so. Why not do it!!!

Closest to the Pin winners were Brad Huyck and Tony Iaquaniello. Our Straightest Drive winner was Ken Byrnes. Don Lager was the 50/50 contest winner. Every golfer took home a door prize too. Unfortunately, nobody won the $5000 Hole in One contest or the other "bonus" Hole in One contests. Better luck next year!!

2015 Kern Council Golf Outing - Our 12th annual Council Golf Outing was completed on Saturday, August 22nd. We had a record turnout of 70 golfers and excellent weather and course conditions. That all contributed to a fun day for all participants.
Congratulations to our low score team winner, Team Cizauskas...Fred Cizauskas, Jerry Berger, Dave Berger and Mike Marsico. Their low score of 55 was matched by Team Trost (David Trost, Mark Stapleton, Pat Lawson, Mike Olszewski). It went down to the 5th tie breaker to determine the winner. Congrats to Team Trost for their 2nd place finish. Closest to the Pin winners were Fr. Terry Treppa and Ken Kinsler. Our Straightest Drive hole winner was Mike Jenkins. Robert Craighead was the 50/50 contest winner. Unfortunately, nobody won the $5000 Hole in One contest!
Thanks to all our participants and generous raffle prize donators. We were able to raise some very good money on behalf of St. Vincent DePaul. That's something our council can be very proud of. If you didn't sign up to golf with us this year, consider doing so next year. Our outing is an enjoyable "for fun" family event and you will have a great time.
